You might have seen some of our posts, here and on social media, we’ve mentioned “Sereno” in a couple of different contexts. Sereno One and Sereno Routing are two parts of our growing tools that make up our Sereno Solutions for sailors. There are more pieces of this suite that are currently in development but for now, we’ll focus on these two.

Why we are developing Sereno? Over the years we‘ve found that there are several areas of the sailing lifestyle that cause headaches and could be greatly improved. The first areas that we’re addressing are anchoring and collision avoidance (Sereno One) and weather and weather routing (Sereno Routing).

Why are we calling this a suite? As we continue moving forward, the individual pieces of Sereno will be integrated and will work together in various ways. For example, Sereno One will collect passage data that will be used to develop wind and wave polars that will feed into Sereno Routing. Realtime weather data will be fed into Sereno Routing to help with weather forecast calibration while on passage. Then many other projects that we’re working on with our Flagship members.

Below are quick introductions to the first two elements of Sereno Solutions. A deep dive into the features of both can be found here.

Sereno One

Sereno One is our hardware solution to anchoring safely. This device provides an independent anchor watch that doesn’t rely on anything besides itself to ensure you are safely anchored. Built in touchscreen, GNSS, alarm, backup battery, and motion sensor. While it needs nothing else to function, it still works with your phone, tablet, computer, and B&G Zeus chartplotter to provide a robust anchor system.

Additionally, the Sereno One is a vessel monitor through Saillogger, provides off vessel alarms, creates sailing polars, acts as an AIS collision advisor, and integrates with Sereno Routing for passage updates.

Sereno Routing

We’ve been searching for the perfect weather routing software for use aboard Sabado and while there are some great options out there, none fit our needs perfectly. So, we decided to build our own.

After a long process of building, testing, fixing, tweaking, building, testing, and on and on, we have Sereno Routing.

Sereno Routing plans sailing passages on forecast weather and provides guidance on when to go. It routes around land, reefs and shallows on three weather models, then shows the conditions, the comfort level aboard and the motoring needed along the way. It runs on the web, Android and iPhone.

How to get more information

We go into a deep dive of both the One and Routing on our Sereno page and we invite you to take a look. We believe that both of these solutions are perfect for us all sailors and we think that you’ll agree with us after using them.

Sereno Routing is available to use freely right now until the end of 2026. You’ll need at least a free membership on this site and you’ll be logged in when you go to Sereno Routing. Beginning in 2027, a VIP membership here will be required to use the routing software.

Sereno One will be available to purchase by our VIP members for about $250 or we’ll give you (VIP) the build sheet and you can order directly from the hardware manufacturer and put one together for about $150 and an hour of your time.

In addition to these elements of the Sereno Suite, we’ll be announcing several other solutions to headache causing cruiser issues. Keep and eye out for those announcements.
