Last night consisted of hours upon hours of sloppy seas and slatting sails. We made little headway as we jibed back and forth to stay on course. We had been anticipating thunderstorms based on the forecast, but for the first time in a while, we had a beautiful sunrise unobstructed by clouds.

Thankfully, the wind filled in, and we were able to sail comfortably all day using our main and jib. We were heading too far south and riding 6-9ft waves, but as long as the sails are happy, we’re happy! The sun was shining, and the breeze was cool. Our batteries even got a good charge!

Our weather router recommended an alternate course so we wouldn’t have to keep jibing. We plugged it into the chart plotter this afternoon and adjusted the sails. We spent the rest of the day switching off at the helm, thinking about our arrival. It still feels like such a far-off thing, but in reality, it’s less than a week away. It’s incredible what your body and mind can adapt to. Life underway feels completely normal to us now, and after six days, even these big seas feel normal! Being still will be an adjustment.

We had dinner together in the cockpit and are enjoying the last bit of sunshine before the sun sets on our 23rd day at sea.
